The Ijesa are a sub-ethnicity of the Yoruba people of West Africa. They are known for their business acumen and long history as traders of fabric and kola nuts. They are also known for developing the “Òṣómà áló” business model, which is associated with debt collection and the idea of not giving up until one’s money is collected.

Ilesha
Ilesha is the historic cultural capital of the Ijesa people and is home to the Ijesha kingdom. The kingdom is ruled by an Oba known as the Owa Obokun Adimula.
Ipetu-Ijesa
The women of Ipetu-Ijesa are known for their mat weaving skills, using a local grass called “Eni Uran”. The men of Ipetu-Ijesa are mostly farmers.
